FIND YOUR HOME!
You and your family should determine what’s most important in selecting a home. Taking the necessary time upfront to prioritize your family’s needs will allow the process to go much smoother and will minimize any regrets later on.
It’s time to begin touring homes. It will be helpful to take notes on the homes that you see as well as taking pictures or videos so you will remember the details later on.
After viewing a number of homes, you’ll know which one or two you’re serious about buying. Don’t forget to evaluate the neighborhood. What condition are the other homes in? Is there a lot of traffic on the street? Is there adequate parking? Are the schools good? How about proximity to shopping?
If the home is priced competitively and has the features you’re seeking, you may need to move quickly. Your agent will help you in determining and negotiating an offer. Consider your financial circumstances, down payment amount and closing costs when negotiating a price. Your escrow company will help you in estimating what your closing costs will be.
Once you and the seller reach an agreement on the price, you will be in escrow. The escrow company is a neutral third party that holds the documents and other instruments of value until the conditions of the escrow instructions have been met. The escrow holder acts to ensure that all principals to the transaction comply with the terms and conditions of the contract.
